Women in Technology is a not for profit organization dedicated
to offering women involved in all levels of the technology industry a
wide range of professional development and networking opportunities. The
organization serves as an advocate for and a representative of the interests
of women in the technology industry, acts as a liaison with other similar
organizations on women’s issues, and plays an advocacy role for technology
issues in the Greater Washington, D.C., region.
Girls In Technology (GIT) is an outreach committee within WIT that provides
scholarships, mentoring, speakers and other types of support for programs
that foster technology interest in elementary, middle, and high school
girls. We especially target disadvantaged girls.
In 2004 - 2005, GIT had an exciting year that included continued support
for traditional programs as well as development of new programs and partnerships.
The committee has grown to over 20 members, who have been extraordinary
in their enthusiasm and willingness to invest their time and energies
to furthering GIT’s mission. The GIT volunteer database has grown
to over 100 WIT members.
Special thanks go to Deloitte & Touche for hosting our monthly committee
meetings. We very much appreciate the hospitality!
