Girls in Technology programs are funded by the Women in Technology Education Foundation (WITEF), a 501(c)(3) charity aligned with Women in Technology (WIT). Through the funds raised for WITEF, WIT’s Girls in Technology committee offers programs that encourage girls to develop and pursue interests in science and technology.

Unless exposed to these fields at an early age, many girls will lag behind their male counterparts in their school years and in their ensuing professional careers. The mission of WITEF is to empower school-age girls, particularly those in underserved communities, by engaging them in programs that foster interest in science, technology and computer-related learning.

WITEF has helped hundreds of girls in the Metropolitan DC area through programs and resources that include mentors, speakers, field trips, curriculum development, and Career Days. WITEF also provides grants to schools and community organizations as well as individual scholarships.
